To me life is like running the hurdles, I’m not a very good jumper, poorly equipped to deal with the hurdles. Every hurdle I come to I hit and have to get up again and keep running until boom, another hurdle. You’d think like other things in life you’d adapt continue your own evolution and learn too get over those hurdles. However; Its not like that because hitting those hurdles is painful and every time you hit each consecutive hurdle your carrying the injury from the one that came before, your very sore, tender and in pain, each hurdle hurts more and more. What then do you do about these hurdles? Go under, go around, stay down & give in. Well you can give in that is an option but then you don’t finish the race. There are rules in place, so you’re not allowed to go under or around, you’ve got to either give in or keep running. Life’s not like a box of chocolates at all as Forrest Gump would have us believe because you know exactly what your going to get and it’s not a sweet treat where your greatest fear is whether you like the flavor or not, try the next one you probably will. Life then is like running the hurdles, so how to get over them and finish the race. By now you know winning the gold is out of the question, not even silver or bronze, there are rules in place so no other option of coming out of lane, going under or going around. You can quit that is an option, but you’ll never finish so at least you can take something from the race. The other competitors won’t want to help you, a few may pick you up from time to time but if you slow them down, they will soon give in. Others won’t even recognize you’ve fallen because they are blinkered and wanting to finish the race and win a medal. You’re in a race that someone else as entered you into, not equipped you for and that you’re not good at, all the rules are against you, your in your own lane and have many hurdles to get over just so you can finish the race! You could charge at them like a Rhinoceros, soak up the bumps n scrapes and keep going but that’s really going to hurt and do some serious damage. In all honesty I don’t think there is an easy way around if you’re not one of the lucky few who can jump those things one after the other. You’re on your own with this, all the medals have gone but one thing is for sure, the crowd are behind you and they are willing you on, if you listen hard enough you can hear them. Everyone loves the underdog and wants to see them do well, the old Rocky story. So, to all the other underdogs out there… I’m shouting for you!! I’m willing you on!!! You do the same for me and we may surprise ourselves and get a over a few of these hurdles together.
Falling is part of life…getting up is survival. 🙂
